it definately sounds good, however the thing i really like about pm dawn covers is the extreme twists they put on the originals. in this case, it seemed like the cover really stuck to the original song framework, so it didn't really have the creative impetus i would've expected. it's just sort of a lighter pop version of the song, but it's still very well executed.

How could you people not like the original? My Elizabeth-brain cannot even comprehend this matter....
I am sure the cover is great, but it won't let me hear it. It's saying unable to open or something. =(

I like the Chilli Peppers, but I never was into that song...I think it's because I could never figure out what he was saying, and the lyrics I did think I figured out were seriously wack, and I like their more upbeat tunes better -- like Higher Ground.

Coz and Mistress-- I love you guys to death, but you have GOT to be on crack or something.

Deep Water-- you and I are 100% in agreement. I just can't understand not liking that song. It blows my mind!

That song could drive me to smoke crack!

Seriously though, I have liked many things that the Chilli Peppers did, but for some reason that 1 completely rubbed me the wrong way. I don't think I ever even heard the chorus before...I sure as hell didn't know the name of the song.

It was like the Name That Tune Game Show for me..."I can change the channel in 3 notes!..."COZ...CHANGE THAT TUNE!!!"

Now, I wonder how many of you younguns that joke was COMPLETELY wasted on...

Oh...and I quite agree about those weird high pitch vocals at the vamp...but then who gives a flyin turd about my opinion...

Maybe not a rat's ass, but definitely a flying turd...

j/k!

I used to love that show! I always thought it was amzing how people could name a song in literally 3 notes...I usually need a measure or two myself...

one right here :donno:

the chilli peppers do seriously suck, EXCEPT for that one album under the bridge was on (blood, sugar, sex, magik) that album was funky as hell.........sir psycho sexy is ill, that shit's like my theme song.......and the title track is just all stunk up with sexy funk "Kissing her virginity, My affinity, I mingle with the gods I mingle with divinity" "Uncontrollable notes From her snowwhite throat, Fill a space In which two bodies float, Operatic by voice A fanatic by choice, Aromatic is the flower She must be moist" how could you not love it?

i wanted to say, though my original post might seem kind of hyper-critical, i think the song is really, really beautiful, i can't wait to get the full CD quality version, so don't get me wrong about it

to be honest i thought the original kicks arse, however it was ruined for me in 98' when 'All Saints' covered it and it was awful. :slap:
got to agree with someone at the top... i love the spins pm dawn have put on other covers in the past. i love hendrix, but i prefer PM's cover of 'floatin', Bes vocals do it much more justice.

I would really really really really love to hear pm dawn use the music to The Guess Who's classic song "these eyes." A hip hop beat to that background keyboard or organ or what ever sound that was would be great......

The cover was nicley done. I really only like the peppers charged songs like By the Way, but this was suitable for be and the crew.

I hope to hear more of what i got with Amnesia, more so than alternative music. :)

:haha: Well Coz, i guess this no longer makes me a 'youngun' cause i know EXACTLY what you are talkin about...

Contestant #1 "i think i can name it in 4 notes"
Contestant #2 "i think i can name that tune in 3 notes"
Contestant #1 "i can name it in 2"
Contestant #2 "ooh...uh i dont think i can do it in one, so go ahead..."
Over-caffinated Game Show Host "alright Contestant #1...NAME THAT TUNE!!"

I loved watching that game show...along with all the others from that time era with my mom when i was little...but i agree with you Coz, i doubt many others my age would remember that show!

I like the Chilli Peppers, but I never was into that song...I think it's because I could never figure out what he was saying, and the lyrics I did think I figured out were seriously wack

why do you think the lyrics are wack?

from what i remember, under the bridge was about their singer's struggle with heroin addiction.

from what i remember, under the bridge was about their singer's struggle with heroin addiction.

It's not that the lyrics ARE wack -- it's that I couldn't really figure out what the hell he was saying, so i got the words all wrong and I THOUGHT the lyrics were wack -- like I swore he was saying "went downtown it's where i drew someone's bud then blew it all away" or something weird like that and I was all like "what the fuck?" :donno: and I never liked the song enough to bother checking out the lyrics cause I get pissed off when I HAVE to look up lyrics cause people can't enunciate at all :cuss: ...so I just figured it was a wack song and left it at that...

I'm really diggin this cover of Under The Bridge. Been listening to it non-stop ever since I found it was available on the net yesterday.

The original is a classic, and this definetly does it justice. Definetly a unique interpretation of it. Very good job with this one
