Old enough to have sported bell-bottom jumpsuits, platform shoes, and a 10 inch fro...and be damm serious about it too!

Old enough to remember the birth of Disco...and to decide NOT to learn how to do the hustle.

Old enough to remember when Mannix was the ONLY show on TV with black people on it. Then came Julia, Star Trek, Flip Wilson, and Soooooooooouuuuuuuuulllllll Train!

Old enough to remember when street gangs wore colorful jackets and had names like The Black Spades, The Crazy Tomahawks, and The Jolly Stompers.

Old enough to remember JFK, RFK, and MLK, and the day they died...didn't know much about Malcolm, but I was old enough to should have.

Old enough to have watched just about every video clip you've ever seen with white men on horses or with dogs or firehoses or billyclubs beatin' down unarmed black people in the street...on the evening news.

That old enough for ya?

The anniversary of his death just passed. I believe he was assassinated on February 21, 1965 at the Audobon Theatre in Manhattan. This May he would have been 78 years old.

(I'm a big fan.)
