then use it to connect to www.pmdawn.net on port 6667
once your connected type /join #pmdawn

Yeah, that java IRC client through the web seems to not work with my computer either. MIRC makes it all good though.

I don't have windows,and all the connections are for windows. I downloaded a file but it didn't do anything.

My laptop is a mac and anyway I am using airport service. I didn't see anything for this.

ok so I now have the irc,but now I don't know how to log on to chat,I have tried connecting but nothing happens.

Go to the connections window and double click on a connection and click the select button (server) in the connection preferences window that opens. In this window you can also set you nick and username.

Now click add.

For server name put www.pmdawn.net. Leave port at 6667. For network I use undernet but I think you can use anything.

Now, in the original connections window choose the connection that you just created and click the connect button on the bottom.

When the console window opens up select Join from the Commands menu at the top (menu bar).

A little Join window opens. Where it says channel: put #pmdawn. The server should already be set, if not select any that is selectable...mine is media-server.

Click OK and you're in! :mrgreen:

ok when I click on the irc icon, a horizontal window pops up that says no one is online? and next to it the letters:p,b,u

I don't know what this means,and then I go to the files window and click on open connection,then to the commands window and click on Join which then a window pops up that says channel of which I type in www.pmdawn.net, underneath askes for an optional password. Still all in all,nothing happens. aie, this is too trivial! chatting should not take all this work! but I know you guys are worth it cuz you all have good conversation and cool ideas,that is why I am even bothering with this. :umm:

once you have connected u have to type "/join #pmdawn"

Nope,gave up. maybe I will try again in the future. That is really hard,I have never used anything like that irc before. Maybe when I have more patiance and time, I will play around and see....
