Stupid people must be shot.
We (my wife and I) bought our house in april of 2001 when we moved to Massachusettes. This was the best house we could find for our price range (MA is a *really* expensive housing market, like downtown NY (well almost anyways)). Sure there are things wrong with it and it's not perfect but stupid people need to be shot for the things they have done to the house.
Without going through prior transgressions that we have found let me tell you of my horrible experience this week. There was wallpaper through out the hallway, the entry way, the living room, etc. Pretty much everywhere but the bedrooms. My oldest son who just turned three grabbed a piece of wallpaper and ripped it off of the wall in the entry way. No big deal, I thought, the wallpaper is kinda looking shabby and we should just paint it anyways. So we start taking down wallpaper, which is on top of paint, which is on top of another layer of paint, which is on top of wallpaper, which is on top of another layer of wallpaper, which is glued on top of primed sheetrock (hey, at least they primed it). Yes that was wallpaper, paint, paint, wallpaper, and wallpaper. And some parts they had ripped off before and spackeled over so that everything was level. ARGGGGGGGHHHHH! At least today we've finished stripping the wallpaper (we started on monday.....)
But that's not the worst part.
This is the worst part:
We took off an old vinyl backing thing so that we could replace it with a new one. Well the previous owners of our house decided that instead of fixing the problem in the walls, they would simply cover it up. Hey, that's a great solution! *NOT* So to get that fixed properly (I might have enough time to strip wallpaper and paint, but not to do that) it's gonna cost 2450. Lovely.
And when we bought the house there was a warranty with it so that if anything went wrong in the first year, or we found something wrong, it would be fixed with only a $50 deductible. Of course that ran out about two years ago.
Anyway, that's been my week. Can't wait to get to the BBQ at Coz's house next saturday.
