Hey guys,
Well after much partying out of town this weekend I made my way to Charles Town, WV on Saturday night. I got to see my first horse races, even placed a few bets. I thought it was going to be totally boring, but it turned out to be a lot of fun.
The one bad part is the sad attempt at slot machines there. I can't beleive people like them there. They are all "multi" machines. You can play like 5 touch screen games but they were terrible. It makes Vegas & Niagara Falls look like a paradise!!!

Unfortunately Lisa, whenever the slots go in at the racetracks (especially in West Virginia), they always put those multi slot games in first. I agree with you--they suck and they rarely pay anything!

The bright side is that if more people come and use them, they will put the better slots in to meet the demand. I've seen this occur at two different race tracks in WV, Mountaineer Park and Wheeling Downs. The standard quarter slot machines can't be denied for too long; they are too popular and they bring in too much money. You just have to "let nature take its course." The nature of greed that is.

HH....horsedog???

How true, how true!! Yeah & it was SO crowded, surprisenly. It would have been better crowd wise even in Vegas. It was so silly, they had tons of machines that didn't even take quarters, you had to use bills to play. I didn't know they start most places off with slot games like that. They are just NOT worth it. Not when I can spend 5cent & play the SAME games. Your right, they definatly don't pay much. I dont go for many card games but those were the only winners.
Ahhh well maybe next time I go back it'll be better. Its so close when i"m up in Staunton visiting one of my good friends, only 2 hrs, but still...

horse racing is actually really big in australia..at the spring carnival you will get over 100, 000 to each race meet..the biggest race is of course the melbourne cup..which basically every1 in australia puts a bet on.. back in 1989..when i was 9! i chose the horses that were 1st 2nd and 3rd..and won $100 which was a lot when you are 9!! if i had done a trifecta though i would have won $, 9000!!! i then went on 2 pick the winner of the melbourne cup for the next 5 years!! ive been going to the races since i was 12..and am still a member of the local racing club..and generally speaking i always do very well..

Thats really cool. I just wasn't sure if you ment horses or dogs. It was a lot of fun betting & watching. My friend is an old hat at it as well & was explaining the breakdown & how it all worked.
I could see myself going back to do the races. Now If I could just get some luck so i'd WIN i'd be great, lol.
