Finally got hosting!
These can all be found at http://twiztidweb.com/butcher/
Please check them out and don't be shy about the comments... Here's the details on all 24 mixes.
1. aaliyah - are you that somebody (dbs forgot about ally mix)
What if Dre produced Aaliyah? It might have sounded like this... This is one of my favorites.
2. ace of base - all that she wants (dbs extended megamix)
This goes back a couple years. A mate had a college radio show and I produced this for it.
3. ani difranco - untouchable face (dbs no club mix)
ani would probably hate this.
4. bone thugz - thuggish ruggish bone (dbs +66 mix)
what if bone was part of the early 90's jazz-hop movement? but still thugz? the bassline gives this away, it's an ani difranco track @ +66%.
5. bran van 3000 - astounded (dbs extended dub)
disqualified entry for an old remix contest. includes drums from an old U2 track.
6. christina aguilara - genie in a bottle (dbs prelude to an aftermath mix)
if i were to only post one of my mixes this would be it. I know this song is played out but these vocals belong with this dr. dre beat. my most professional mix. cali love instrumental.
7. crucial conflict - hay (dbs throw that mix)
minimalism mix with a simple 2 live crew loop.
8. detroit butcher - the eulogy
created the day after Jam Master Jay was murdered.
9. dr. dre - forgot about dre (dbs purple vinyl mix)
this time, the tables have turned and eminem produces a track for dre.
10. dr. dre - still d.r.e. (dbs layin low mix)
ah. perhaps in an alternate universe, dre kept "lay low" unreleased and used it's groove for this one. another favorite.
11. eminem - the way i am (dbs victory mix)
about a year ago, some kid on the d-12 world board claimed i could not combine eminem with a certain puffy track. here it is.
12. erykah badu - on and on (dbs army of weed mix)
bjork's classic track takes ms. badu's vocals on a ride. features interlude by a very stoned dr. dre... fun!
13. insane clown posse - chicken huntin (dbs old school mix)
this one's only for the juggalos. i only wish i could find an uncensored acapella of this one.
SPECIAL NOTE TO MY MAN COZ: Yep, that's a slowed down loop from Jam On It, and I'll will GLADLY remove this mix from the server as soon as you say so, if you say so. No disrespect meant at all, you know I love ya. Today when I uploaded these tracks is the first time anyone has ever heard it, and I've never profitted from it. :umm: Fuck I hope you don't wanna kick my ass for this. It's a song about killing racist rednecks and most people will hate it anyway. :donno:
14. isley brothers - contagious (dbs cartoon mix)
turning a pretty ballad into a comical off broadway animated feature with help from a high speed biggie instrumental.
15. lenny kravitz - believe in me (dbs take it back to 85 mix)
i didn't win the kravitz competition either. but i love this mix.
16. tupac - changes (dbs outkast at a fast pace mix)
someone, it was either prince, or joni mitchell, said the space between the notes matters as much as the notes themselves. so maybe this pac classic doesn't need so many notes. a sped up outkast instrumental makes the point...
17. michael jackson - smooth criminal (dbs film noir mix)
one of my best mixes ... i really think dre should produce everybody. the "whats the difference" instrumental gives this one the feel of an old detective movie... love it
18. nelly furtado - turn off the lights (dbs beat box mix)
maybe back in '83 miss nelly was hangin out on the street corner, cold lampin with the fat boys. i know they would have drawn a crowd with this one ... LOVE IT
19. pharcyde - passin me by (dbs illusions mix)
i think the pharcyde would have been much more popular if they had better beats. cypress helps out on that topic and creates a classic.
20. robert palmer - i didn't mean to turn you on (dbs extended flashback mix)
this song is just begging for a 12 inch mix. palmer's recent passing made me pull this one out of the archives; it's the first one i did when i first got cooledit back in the day.
21. shannon - let the music play (dbs g-funk rollerskate mix)
once again, dr. dre should produce everyone.
22. suzanne vega - tom's diner (dbs modern mix)
suzanne's original acapella shacks up with a roni size/method man track from the spawn 2 soundtrack.
23. the police - walking in your footsteps (dbs mighty brontosaurus mix)
this one is off an old cassette, so it's a little muffled and i almost didn't include it. sting provides vocal from the original vinyl of synchronicity while fruityloops rides the track with a very headphone friendly overlay track.
24. will smith - men in black (dbs layin low with the compton prince mix)
what if mr. smith went to compton? oh this one has made so many people look like when i've slipped it into my sets.
whew. that was a lot to type up and it's hard describing my own sh*t. who's brave enough to review all 24? I've been doing these type of mixes for years but couldn't get reliable hosting until now, so here they are. probably 2/3s of these were done live to tape with Mixvibes free 3.04, and then dumped back into cooledit pro for tweaking and encoding. a small few were created in fruity loops, and a couple were done in cooledit. I just don't like acid. It's a very easy program to use but I can't explain why I prefer other methods. Too old school for my old good I guess but the mixes here will speak for themselves now that I'm done rambling. heh.
please comment on as many as you can, folks. even if you hated them, because yall know I'm not one of those " FU*K aLL yoU HatERZZ mY miXEs ARe L33t!!!!!!!1111" type bitches. I'm damn near 30 for Jah's sake.
thanks!
