Well Tim if we must go there, it goes a little something like this:
Oz is, was, and always will be my favorite HBO series, bar none, period. It used to be a joy to turn on the TV on Sunday night (at the risk of sounding like Prince Be), to relax and watch the killing, the carnage, and the human-nature-centered wisdom of my favorite show. But somewhere along the way HBO actually thought that they could create a better series than Oz. (Yeah right! Like Carnavale was really gonna take the place of my Oz. )
Anywho, there is still time for HBO to redeem themselves by bringing it back with my favorite characters, or better yet pointless nudity involving a women's prision version. That would do.
Now that "Sluts in the City" is going off too. And the Sapranos are coming back. I am really ready for my second favorite HBO series "Six Feet Under" to return. Please hurry and bring it back.
On a slightly related note, and at the risk of repeating myself, I am glad you decided to stick around so we can have these little posts.
Much Admiration,

Sorry, Tim, I noticed that in my haste to get out my rant, that I really didn't directly answer your question. The final season, dissappointed me in that they killed Said. That really pissed me off. Plus, they killed Keller too, and my boy Beacher wound up back in prison. And how are you gonna let Harold's character get capped! Bad writing all around there. All the good characters are gone now, so what would be the point of bringing it back.

i think they killed all those guys..includin glenn because it was the final year... i thought alvarez was the best in that last season..and his final speech how he was sick of it all (was prob tom fontana saying he couldnt write anymore) they never really wrapped up the show or its characters though..but overall i thought the last season was awesome..carnivale? im on the 1st episode at the moment..that show is real weird.. the wire i love though..that is the most realistic show of any..and its great how it just builds and builds..thats prob my fav..and will fill my Oz fix

Yeah, I really like the wire too. It does have its slow moments though. Oz never really had a slow moment. I agree with you that it seems fairly real. I love how they mix the characters from the first season with the characters from the second. My favorite two characters are Omar and McNolty. The detectives, especially the older one (I forget his name), are great too. The third season should be very interesting (if they do a third season).
I'm sorry to say Carnivale really didn't move me. Too quirky, not interesting enough, or the main character got on my nerves--something about it turned me off.

How did Beecher end up back in jail? They killed Harold?
I quit watching Oz many seasons ago, but I used to love it.

Elizabeth,
His good "friend" Keller set him up when he was on the outside, right after Beacher tried to save him from the electric chair. Keller missed him and was afraid that Beacher was going to go off and get married and forget about him.
And yes, the final season began with Harold's character dying. Sux, doesn't it?! But he still "narrated from beyond" After they killed him, Said and Glenn, I was real pissed at the show. Then Keller dies too. Sux Sux Sux!!
