I know some of you aren't the biggest sports fans, but this day kinda encapsulates Americana, its bigger than the game.

So are you'll going to watch it? Commercials should be good again. The game will stink, just cause I like neither of the teams, but it might be exciting near the end. I don't want the Patriots to win, but I think they will... Oh well, the best thing about football is that you can go worst to first in very little time... just ask the Panthers (1-15 two years ago).

Well enjoy the game if you see it...

And next year the Bears, Steelers and Packers will vie for the title   (in my dreams)

Have fun everybody watching the game. I am not into the game that much, but this chiK that i know invited me to a superbowl party, here's the scenario...

She's married, and her "boyfriend" invited her to a hotel room with a rented screen tv and VIP room along with some other guys, and has asked me to join her. SHe told her husband that shes going to a babyshower with me, and having him to drop her off at my house tomorrow around 3 pm...until her boyfriend picks her up...

I do NOT like this arrangement, because I told her I wasnt interested in going, cuz i dont hang out like that...nor do I support a woman or man cheating on their spouse, using me as the genunie pig in the meantyme, always sayin shes chilliN at my place, when shes NOT... How can i break aloose from this situation, because for one, her husband is suicidal since he thinks shes gonna leave him, and 2...hes a cop,...the kinda cop that bust drug dealers and take their weed (from what shes told me)... I just dont want to be in any of this, and i already told her, that I dont think its a good idea for her husband to know where I live...lol. She wanted to live with me, and bring her 4 kids...i told her thats not a safe idea to put ppls lives in jeopardy like that, and i was against the idea...

Sorry to get off subject here,.but im sure Coz or sumbody can save my tail from trouble. lol

anyways,..yall enjoy the game ...

Bad idea...and DANGEROUS idea Sweet! You have to put your foot down on this one. In no way should you be her cover, if she wants to leave him let her go somewhere else. If she fears him she should go to a battered women's shelter. But, IN NO WAY should you be up in the middle of that!

I have had more than 1 friend learn this lesson the hard way...1 lost his life. Domestic issues are for the domestic couple, their families and the police. Your only obligation is to call 911 if needed...otherwise A.B.C your way out of it! PLEASE!!!

No doubt about it... Coz is exactly right. That situation screams of disfunction (not on your part, especially if you get out of it). This just can't happen... I know that you see that and you are just trying to be a friend here, but this is as good a time as any to lay your foot down. It wasn't your fault that your friend got into any of her circumstances, and you should help her when necesary to get better and change for the better, but you getting involved with or going along with the problem would be an travesty. Of the little I know of you...I do know that you are smart enough and strong enough to extricate yourself from this situation, and I think its that important to do so immediately... *Thus endeth the 2 cent I rode in on*

Who you got Coz?? I never even saw the point spread on the game, I would guess Panthers get around 4 points??? I could be way off though, what do I know. I would still take the Patriots, even though points are good to get, especially in low scoring games.

I hope it all works out Sweets  , both today and for the whole life of that situation. Trust your instincts  and it'll all be fine

Thanks Coz, Tim, justafan...thats just want I needed to hear. I am totally uncomfortable with all of it, besides I just met her at a gym in December., so its not like we are tyte...but she's trying to keep close contact with me...just for the sake of covering up her ass...i think...

but i cant support her disrespect to marriage or hang out with someone that lives this dangerously on the edge. I keep telling he that I DONT hang out, wanna hook up with her boyfriend and his friends...they can find some ass sumwhere else..cuz im NOT feelin these ppl...I enjoy staying at home, takin care of my kids and safely hanging out online with my friends... :)

anyway,...sorry that i hijacked the thread ppl,...but it was related to me being invited to a superbowl party...

<preface>I don't like or watch football and could care less one way or the other who wins</preface>

The people here in Boston are pretty much sports maniacs. When the RedSox got knocked out from playing in the world series everyone put on black and moped around for a week. So for the sake of my sanity, I hope the pats win (and I'm glad they're favored). That being said, when they won the superbowl two years ago it was *they* who were in the same situation the panthers are in now. Very much the underdogs and not expected to win. Yet they did.

Go Figure.

Yeah Sweet, bad situation. She may be a nice person, but she doesn't sound like a very good friend (not only morally, but just to even put you in that position).
Being that she's so new to you, my guess is that she is using you.
But you knew that.

tell me that you all saw JT messing(ie., flirting) with Janet and then he ripped her tit loose... and apparently it was an accident :donno: ?

It looked staged to me, but it was weird overall... :donno:

The game was awesome, very exciting in the 4th quarter, which is all you can ask for from two teams that are seemingly so unexciting.

How did things turn out sweets?

just read this in the news....

FEDS Will Investigate Nudity During Halftime Show...

The chief federal regulator of broadcasting said Monday he was outraged by the Super Bowl halftime show in which Justin Timberlake tore off part of Janet Jackson's costume, exposing her breast, and said he was ordering an immediate investigation.

Timberlake blamed a ``wardrobe malfunction,'' but Federal Communications Commission chief Michael Powell called it ``a classless, crass and deplorable stunt.''

MTV, which produced the show, and CBS, which broadcast it, both said they had no idea that their halftime show Sunday night would include such a display.

``CBS deeply regrets the incident,'' spokeswoman LeslieAnne Wade said.

The two singers were performing a flirtatious duet to end the halftime show, with Timberlake singing, ``Rock Your Body,'' and the lines he sang at the moment of truth were: ``I'm gonna have you naked by the end of this song.''

With that, Timberlake reached across Jackson's leather gladiator outfit and pulled off the covering to her right breast, which was partially obscured by a sun-shaped, metal nipple decoration.

The network quickly cut away from the shot, and did not mention the exposure on the air.

In a statement, Powell said, ``I am outraged at what I saw during the halftime show of the Super Bowl. Like millions of Americans, my family and I gathered around the television for a celebration. Instead, that celebration was tainted by a classless, crass and deplorable stunt. Our nation's children, parents and citizens deserve better.''

He told the commission to open an investigation, promising it would be ``thorough and swift.'' Such an investigation could result in a fine of up to $27,500 or - if the FCC applied the sanction to each CBS station - in the millions.

Messages left with Jackson's record company and her personal publicist were not returned Monday morning.

The FCC has come under fire from lawmakers and outside groups who say the agency hasn't done enough to shield the public from indecent programming on radio and TV.

Legislation has been introduced in Congress to increase by 10-fold the $27,500 maximum fine that the FCC can levy for indecency. The Bush administration has endorsed the bill raising the fine to $275,000. The agency itself has said it may start issuing the fine per incident rather than per program, and is talking about revoking licenses.

Last month, the FCC proposed a $755,000 fine against Clear Channel Communications for the ``Bubba the Love Sponge'' program that aired multiple times on four of its Florida radio stations. The fine was a record for a single complaint. The largest cumulative fine for indecency was $1.7 million paid by Infinity Broadcasting in 1995 for various violations by Howard Stern.

MTV, CBS' corporate cousin in Viacom, issued an apology, saying the incident was ``unrehearsed, unplanned, completely unintentional and was inconsistent with assurances we had about the content of the performance.''

Timberlake said he did not intend to expose Jackson's breast.

``I am sorry that anyone was offended by the wardrobe malfunction during the halftime performance of the Super Bowl,'' Timberlake said in a statement. ``It was not intentional and is regrettable.''

Wade said CBS officials attended rehearsals of the show all week, ``and there was no indication any such thing would happen. The moment did not conform to CBS' broadcast standards and we would like to apologize to anyone who was offended.''

The show also featured P. Diddy, Nelly and Kid Rock.

NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue called the conduct ``offensive, embarrassing to us and our fans, and inappropriate.''

``We will change our policies, our people and our processes before the next Super Bowl to ensure that this entertainment is far more effectively dealt with,'' he said.

Joe Browne, NFL executive vice president, said earlier that it was ``unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime.''

Over-the-air television channels cannot air ``obscene'' material at any time and cannot air ``indecent'' material between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. The FCC defines obscene material as describing sexual conduct ``in a patently offensive way'' and lacking ``serious literary, artistic, political or scientific value.'' Indecent material is not as offensive but still contains references to sex or excretions.

In an interview posted on MTV.com in the days before the show, Jackson's choreographer, Gil Duldulao, talked about the show, saying: ``She's more stylized, she's more feminine, she's more a woman as she dances this time around. There are some shocking moments in there too.''

I can't believe such a big deal is being made over this. In europe, no one would have thought twice about this type of thing. It was her breast, but it wasn't even exposed as much as model in a small bikini top would have shown. I don't know, it was a brazen attempt at publicity (which worked, 'cause people are talking about it), but it wasn't that big a deal in my opinion... :donno:

Cozmo D
02-04-2004, 10:54 AM
You obviously didn't see the close-up Chris...THAR BE NIP!!!

The thing is, this isn't Europe. We are a very puritanistic society and so are extremely uptight about our bodies. My main problem is that the Superbowl is a traditionally family affair...and the 1 part of the evening where the younger kids would be paying the most attention is halftime.

But, I wouldn't have a cow about it either.

Elizabeth

Wow, I'm surprised at my boys...

You take the cheerleaders and the beer commercials (with or without buxom bikini chicks) and just the nature of the all-American sports watchin' man, and you figure it would be no problemo. I certainly didn't have a problem with it. I wouldn't have a problem with my kids seeing it, either. I did grow up watching whatever I wanted, though. My parents thought I was mature enough to handle it, anyway. I think maybe if we all treated our kids that way and taught them that the body was not shameful that the "mature enough" theory would manifest itself into the children anyway?

just a thought. :donno:

One thing that I love about the European culture is that they have an appreciation for nature, and not easily alarmed with naked bodies...

I wouldn't have gotten as upset as some have at Janet's performance if my sons saw it,...but I do understand the nature of how it has made thousands, if not millions of viewers upset, ..namely Americans... I am a huge Janet Jackson fan, and was surprised at her last minute change in the performance, because I always viewed her as a sophistiated and sexy sista that didnt have to go to this extreme for publicity...

I don't condone her behaviour in any form or fashion, however she does have my love & suport as a continued fan,...because shes human like each of us, and is entitled to be forgiven after a public apology and asking for forgiveness...

Everybody makes mistakes,...sadly she was not conscious of "bad tyming" to show her decorated nipple during a very important family event...

I LOVE YOU JANET! ...BUT DAM,...KEEP THEM BIG TITTIES COVERED UP GURL!
