I don't really like his show. I used to like him, as a comedian... but I just get the feeling in watching his show that a lot of his jokes aren't really jokes... that there's maybe a lot of anger behind it.

Well anyway. Nothing against Dave Chapelle. His commercials are funny.

I must be on the outs on this one but I don't like him. I don't think he's funny at all for various reasons, that I'll keep to myself.

Last year his show was OK...but this year it's fukkin hillarious!!!

If you don't follow the adage that "nothing in comedy is sacred" then you will most likely be offended by his stuff, but as someone who has been into comedy all of his life and was making movies at 9...I think he is fukkin hittin on all cylinders now.

I'm very picky when it comes to comics. It takes alot to make me laugh, not that I'm serious or anything like that, just if you're a comic, then you gotta bring the noise to make me laugh. If you can make me laugh, then you must be pretty damn funny, and I don't mean chuckle, I mean laugh. I'll take Robin Williams, George Carlin, Chris Rock and the like any day. I like that Last Comic Standing show, my favs were Rich and Dat Phan. I'd like to see Dat in a show sometime. Rich is cool and all but not tv material in my opinion.

LOL...actually I got the names wrong. I meant Ralphy not Rich, I hated Rich. Its not really that I thought Dat was all that funny, but he has a presense about him that I think would work well on tv, like in a show. He did play out the whole asian thing tho, funny once, maybe twice, after that its just old. There was that other guy that I liked, but I can't remember his name, the older guy. I wanted to go see Robin and Chris when they came up here, but both of their shows, and they had two a peice I think sold out the first day. Different dates and times of course.

i LOVE George Carlin. Chris Rock is good too. I like a lot of comedians. My favorite comedian...no one seems to have ever heard of, Lavelle Crawford. Big guy, always come out dressed in one color usually. Like all in white....he's like i'm not fat....I look like a big ol gallon of milk. Once he was in purple, he was like I don't like damn Barney, I look good...I look like a big fruit rollup!

I'll take the fall though...main one I don't like...D.L. Hughley. As much comedy as I watch I used to watch Comicview ALL the time. Every time he was on there he always had to be picking on someone, I hated that. Don't get your comedy by singling people out. I get they are going to stereotype, pick on groups, but leave people who are there to see the show alone!!

Although I am all about watching Comedy, I think my tv stays tuned to Comedy Central, lol.

Now that we have a comedy club in richmond I love going there. I am very bitter I missed Greg Brehendt. he is so damn funny....and even wrote for sex in the city. Ohh but i DID get to meet Gary Owens, hot and damn funny!!

at the mention of dave show, i had 2 download some eps to see what the buzz was about, I already knew who he was from a few movies and stand up shows.. however.. as you mentioned Liz, I can feel undertones.. dont ask me what exactly it is but there is something there i tell ya !! very occasionally u may find a very funny sketch suddenly stops being all that comedic and for the last few moments of the sketch it really is just about nastyness to a particular person/group of people..
which is not 2 say the show doesnt have me in stitches

I find very little difference in what he does on his show and what Chris Rock did on his HBO show. Dave just has a little more of an edge than Chris.

that is interesting coz, I am not sure how much I agree. Chris Rock, to me, gives a social commentary in the context of comedy routine. That is why I find him so funny, he is so right on about 95% of the things that he says. case in point --- 'A man is only as faithful as his options..." I love that quote, and in many respects its true, not all though.

Dave is funny also as a social commentarist, but its not through truth that he speaks from. Its more boundary oriented commedy, saying what isn't ok in an ok way to say it. Its like he knows what non-racists would find funny and says it, cause to me a that is basically who he is making fun of a lot...

favorite chapelle out-takes;
coke is a helluva drug
he was a habitual line-stepper
I walk in the club, and Rick (James) was acting real niggarish, just like me (Charlie Murphy)
What kind of person would put his muddy shoes on a persons couch, (pauses a second), yeah I did it.

I walk around and say those lines all the time, and when is Chris going to do another live hour show, I can't wait!
