well as always in the computer world stuff changes...at this point we need to upgrade the forum software due to it having some security bugs...and I think this might also have had something to do with Tim's forum getting hi-jacked several weeks back as he runs the same forum software.

Anyway here's the fun part...this forum is v1.3 which is no longer supported, we can move up to 2.0 but it's the paid version. Yearly it will be $69.95, or a lifetime license of $199.00.

We have the option of switching to vBulletin (vBulletin.com) for $85 a year or $160 one time/plus a small renewal fee each year for updates...the only catch to this is we have to convert these forums over to it and get used to it all over again. Although I will say vBulletin is the best when it comes to forum software, if you wanted to post from your cellphone vBulletin can be setup to let you do it...the list goes on...

Either way we do this I'm going to end up spending some cash on it, so it's now just a "what do you want" kinda thing...

go have a look at both of them

The other 2 forums I belong to both use vBulletin, so that gets my vote. :)

yea, i vote for vbulletin too, but whatever you decide will be fine. it's amazing you're still willing to put money into this after so long. you still rock in my book, whatever.

vBulletin is badass but I'm not too amused at going through the conversion again

I'll paypal you some bucks to help the cost.

They're both on MySQL, right? Does vBulletin have any utilities to help with the database converstion?

yeah it's automated conversion and they both do mysql, but I still have to go through and reconfigure all the groups and stuff...not to mention eveything has to be relearned...not to mention the themes will be gone...not to mention...ugh you get the point

use whichever you feel has the less cluttered appearance..

ok I guess if no one has anything else to add then we're switching to vBulletin

I'm going to hold off on the switch till I get this site moved to the new server, the server is waiting to go online once I get things sorted out with it's location so it will be a bit longer before things get going.

The server has been slightly upgraded from what I got it with, right now it's pimping Dual Xeon 3.06's, 2GB ECC RAM, and two 73.4GB 10k SCSI drives in RAID 1 and a single 36GB 10k SCSI drive for daily backups.

Yes it's fast... :oface:
