what sort of info exactly ?? i know stacks of people who have been there and im sure i know people who have lived there..
ill get back to you with some general info after work tonight i think..

not the most exciting of sites but there will be some info at the cairns council website (http://www.cairns.qld.gov.au/)

offhand i think all reports from people about cairns were good.. nice weather, site seeing etc.. as i say.. whats the context of the info you want ?

i've been up near cairns a couple of times though not into the city itself.. i went by bus to visit a friend, it was around 20 straight hours of travel time.. and cost me about 60 US $$$ ... On the map image, cairns is in top right region.. continue directly down from cairns about halfway down is Toowoomba , thats where i am.. do the same again and you will see Melbourne, Hiero is in that neck of the woods

what you heard is correct and wrong at the same time.. it has many resorts but also average cost living areas..

i think it would be a very nice place in terms of scenery, access to the beach, weather etc.

i'll ask friends about the cost of living there.

HAAAAHAAA HAAA .. NO REDNECK AUSSIES .. HAHAHAHA.. ahem .. but seriously..

in rural areas there are some serious rednecks.. i went to a school in the city but half were from country areas who came to board at the school.. there were some who had never seen an asian before high school...... there are some way out bush/country areas .. so dry and desolate they scare the hell outta me..
