I was given a new mac. Well older mac a "digital audio" 466 133 bus. it runs osx pretty damn well. I have found it much more enjoyable than my pc. I can do all the things i did on my linux boxes for the most part. only a few things i have to remote desktop back to my windows box to do at work (wine doesnot work yet) . But for the most part i only have a few gripes. You cant find hardware like you can a pc looking for a 733 chip is horriable. You just can't find the things you need on the fly like a intel. Other than that the os is great. It is nice to have a awsome gui and a pretty good cli. Osx server pretty much rocks. i might replace a few of our servers with osx server. Oh and working on them well my case is pretty sweet also. No spyware or virus. my mom is getting a mini from me next upgrade

yea and it still runs great and was free.
"utopia" not quite but it made me giddy as a kid again to play on a new pc much the same way beos did the other better os.
ether you might want to look at refurb or used apple products they are pretty damn cheep and i would imagine anything from 733 on up with plenty ran will do most anything ya need. I cant imagine paying that much for a new pc. my next upgrades will be a mac but not a new one.
Do powerbooks have left mouse buttons? couldnt handle one if not. i love my kensington expert trackballs and left mouse buttons

Nah, since he's planning to do music and run a shitload of softsynths he's doing right. I run both Panther on a dual G4 1.25 and XP Pro on a Pentium 4 2.4 and it's night and day. I always say unless you run both platforms constantly you really should shut up.

coz ya need to try beos on your intel. There is a install file out there that will let you install it as a image on a windows box. Its called personal edition. Not much in web browsers for it but everything else you can find apps for.

its all open source. but has the fell and stability of a mac. plus the personal you dont install like a os it installs like a program to play with.
