full spectrum telekinesis ... so you can move objects, levitate yourself, speed up and slow down particle activity to heat or supercool anything ....
failing that give me a GL ring ... or firestorm's power to alter elements any of those would give you an awesome amount of power and an unlimited number of cool things you could do !!!

Great answers... Ya know, Most of what I've alway's wanted to do that would be superhuman I've done in my lucid dreams. I guess I'd say to somehow be just as free in the "physical world."

The ability to see things before they happen. I could do a lot of good with that talent.

Ok, I just watched this weeks episode of The 4400 (excellent show by the way). One the the returnees had this gift and it seemed horrible! So I have changed my mind. I either want to a) be able to fly *no capes please* b) see the results of all options of a decision before I make it or c) x-ray vision to see through Chiefs clothes... ooh wait. Maybe I better second guess that. This is where letter B would come in handy.

Heh, you found me out. I watched it too, and that was my inspiration for starting this thread.

Oh, I forgot to contribute my own two cents to the thread.
At this moment, considering that these gas prices are eating me alive and my 22 year old car has no A/C and I'm boiling alive in traffic, I think I'd like the power of teleportation.
Usually, though, I'd like to have the power of invisibility. There are so many places where I would like to be a fly on the wall. I would have loved to eavesdrop on the cardinals conference at the Vatican when they elected the new pope, and I'd like to see what goes on in the Oval Office, too. Well, besides watching Dubya play Tetris...

i also dream about flying often, but teleportation...you could be anywhere at anytime you wanted. just imagine how much you'd save in travel and all the things you'd see!

no one mentioned shape shifting :)
As a general guide: If you successfully maintained your flight at a low to medium height, you can expect to achieve your goal without much difficulty.

The power to heal the sick and dying. Self-explanatory.

I think the gift of healing others could be one of the most dangerous powers of all, because you couldn't keep it a secret for more than a few days. The first person you healed, in his/her excitement, would be blabbing it to everybody.
After the cat's out of the bag, you could never have uninterrupted time alone or with loved ones, because You would constantly be inundated with people who are desperate for your healing touch, not to mention the people who would be seeking a way to line their own pockets through your gift, and the pharmaceutical and medical industries would want to make you disappear.

Invisibility...on command of course.
...and I'd probably be a villian.

That is true, but with any of these powers, there would be a HUGE risk to the posessor.... If anyone saw you teleporting and blabbed.....
How long do you think it would take the Military/ Gub'ment to set up an ambush and make you disappear? (And not to where YOU wanna go?)
Any of us if we had these powers? Gotta wear a mask and find a secret hidey-hole to use them...

The advantage of the non-healing powers is that if there was a person who witnessed someone using their powers, he or she would likely be dismissed, at best, as someone who's seeing things, or at worst, as a total wackjob.
"No, no, I SWEAR! I was at Walgreen's, and I saw DJ just appear out of thin air and buy a bottle of Desani!"
"Uh, yeah. Right. Have you been taking your meds?"
However, if there's some guy who one minute had cancer and the next minute doesn't, his testimony would not be discredited so easily.

should we build in our own weakness to this superpower, you know, like kryptonite?

The people that say the same thing about faith healers are dismissed just as easily....
Too many Discovery health channel shows with "Miraculous healing" and they are ignored too.
But If you were on VIDEO disappearing and appearing, how would that be....
UFO video nevermind....
Well MOST of these powers would be dangerous.

Yeah, but my invisibility wouldn't! When I'm invisible, nobody can catch me doing anything, and thanks to my questionable charisma, when I'm not using my powers, I'm practically invisible anyway!:)

I tried to go to my favorite amusement park the other day but I could only drive 4 hours.
Teleportation seemed very practical and desirable that day. I kept thinking about it after having read this thread.

Man, I love the fact that now we're getting into how having powers would make us wander around like David Banner (still sucks they didn't use the comic book original name Bruce) running away from the gov't, doing great things, and searching for peace. Very "Kung Fu".
And I don't know how I could pass on the telekenisis thingy. Quick question tho- what technically would the jedi powers fall under? Cause I would have to be some super jedi ninja that could run around f'ing people up! And the way I would figure it, I would be good, then get disillusioned and turn bad, and then turn good again just in time to save people from some horrible event (that I may or may not be somewhat responsible for).

depends which jedi power u would be referring to.. im not a particularly versed star wars fan.. i just know of some of them from having friends round 2 play multiplayer on jedi knight and messing round jumping super high , choking them from afar etc.. 80% are forms of telekinesis.. failing that theres cloaking/invisibility(a mind trick), shielding ,lightning(from hands).. and super speed..
throwing light saber, levitation("force jump"), choke etc are all telekinesis related

Very "Kung Fu".I read why they changed his name to David Banner for the TV series, and it's pretty funny (in a "what's up with that?") kind of way. It so happens that the TV execs changed the character's name simply because they felt that the name Bruce sounded too gay.
