So I stayed a few hours late at work and dealt with a report we got…I now have 19GB (yes 19 gigabytes) of child porn from the server I pulled out from under a customer and searched, and I’m almost done preparing a report for the FBI.

The internet has one less child porn site tonight, so I’m going to sleep now.:rock:

not really...we shutdown child porn sites asap...it takes so long to get the formal BS going that it kinda makes it pointless to leave online..also it's not really a private citizen, since the servers are in our data center with a few thousand other servers. The way I do it doesn’t give them a chance to know anything is even going on, all of a sudden their server is offline and sitting on my desk.

I got a report form a non-profit agency, went to check out the links he sent and it was a password protected webpage...so I broke into the server using a backdoor password, and dug around for files, found some and sent a few to one of my servers, downloaded them to my laptop in the office and confirmed they were child porn. All this while the person was still logged in and didn't even notice I was there. I grabbed a few key log files and turned off his network port.

I went and pulled the server off the rack a few mins later and imaged the hard drive to backup the data, emailed the owner of the server and told them they leased it to someone hosting child porn and it has been terminated. Now there's 19GB of child porn sitting on my desk at work with log files of the people's IP's who had accounts to look at it and some other info.

The person who was responsible had an IP that traces back to somewhere near Russia...so that's kinda useless, but the log files of all the people from all over the world who paid this guy to look at this stuff are now sitting on my desk, so that will create a lot of new trails for the FBI/Interpool/etc to follow once I get it reported and someone takes the 300MB log file.

no, I have business cards of who I need to contact at several agencies including the FBI and GBI...I still laugh at all the people emailing abuse or crime@fbi.gov actually thinking they check that email. :haha:
