There was a rapper who sampled Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" and as someone I know once said about Ice Cube's "Bop Gun", lifted the whole song. Any idea who it was? This question is also open to anyone that has info.

Thanx

it was wyclef jean(and his navy seal team)....and it technically is a 1998 hiphop remix of that tune....as a matter of fact it is on queens greatest hits 3 album as a bonus track from 1999

the song originally was on the soundtrack to the 1998 movie small soldiers...

Nice try Syxx, but the one I'm referring to was much earlier than that. Like in the Early 80s around the same time Grandmaster Flash broke into the scence when he did Chic's "Good Times" and he too did a sample of "Another One Bites the Dust". Wyclef was just a small fry Jamerican when the song in question was released. I keep looking and get back with you cats.

Like I said, this is open to the public.

Flash never did "Good Times", that was Sugarhill Gang. He didn't do "Another One Bites The Dust" either that I can remember.

And those weren't samples back then, they were interpolations.

And Wyclef isn't Jamaican or Jamerican, he's Haitian.

Come up with a few more clues Stan and maybe we can help you out. :)

Oh, and Flash did cut up "Good Times" and "Bites The Dust" on "The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel", maybe that is what you were talking about? :idunno:

First off, Coz. I was right about The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash song. But it's not the one I was referring to. This guy as I said didn't just sample the music. He lifted the whole song. He even had Freddie Mercury's voice in the background. When I was a kid, our local station use to wear it out. Perhaps it was one of the local DJs who made this cut. I don't know. Come to think of it, I should ask my sister. She'll remember iit was one of her favorites.

By the way, If you run into Wyclef, tell him I apologize about getting his nationality wrong.

First off, Coz. I was right about The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash song.Well, you said he "sampled" it which was what threw me off, that was a recording of him spinning, not a sample. People didn't start using samples in records until about '85.
