Did you catch any of the first three episodes from this season?

I'm liking the direction they're going so far. Yesterday was the first episode with Omar in it. I'm curious to see what they do with McNulty. I like some of the new kids they have on the show interacting with the old cast members, i.e. Bodie, Marlo, Bubbs. Some pretty good writing on that show.

Yeah, the new season is dope! It has the potential to be the best ever. I think they're going to kill off Omar though, he's a regular on a new network show.:(

That is the best show I have ever seen... I love "The Wire" It just grabs you and I find myself looking at the clock to see how much more I got til I have to come down off the wire high... I've seen most of all the seasons... I want to buy the whole set... they say the fifth is the last season... I'm gonna be very depressed about that. But, oh well!

The characters are very interesting and the plots are just terrific... I wonder what's gonna happen to Marlow!! I hate that guy but yet I find him strangely fascinating...

Did anyone on here like "Oz"?

Did you like "Oz" Coz?

THEY BETTER NOT KILL OFF OMAR!! I'll be real upset about that. So the fifth season is the last huh? What is this season 4, right?

I agree with you guys; I think season will be the best one. I'm enjoying every episode. The prison scene with what-his-name and his son was pretty disturbing to me. He's directing his son how to be in the drug game. That I didn't like at all--maybe it was an honest portrayal, but it was depressing to me.

Season 2 was probably the weakest of all the seasons. It just doesn't fit that well with the rest of them.

Cozmo D
09-27-2006, 08:18 PM

I really want Omar to get in Marlow shyt... I don't like Marlow, but I do... (weird)
But Omar is so damn REAL!!!

I think Greggs is gonna do real good... I wonder what up with that lil bright kid... why he jumped outta the coach's van... I'm really proud of the coach (Cutty)!! I can only imagine the way he feels inside about help'n those kids and he actually is!

Louis85
10-03-2006, 09:36 AM
Chuk,

My guess is the young brother has been abused. He clearly has trust issues with the coach and maybe all black male figures. I would say by the care that takes with his younger brother that he has been molested by a black man who was close to him, probably one of his mother's boyfriends. These scenes seem to be leading up to the reason why he's afraid of the coach. I hope Cutty is able to get through to him--I want those two to become friends if not trainer and trainee.

That article (posted a couple frames up) was right on the money about this not being a hit show because it has too many Black people in it. I agree with that 100%. I can't believe that season two was rated the highest. I think the show has gotten better each season. I've enjoyed it more this season the most already. Last season was very good too.

He's a hell of a lil hustler though... and a boxer... He may be the next Marlow/Avon/Stringer Bell.... Omar?????
I noticed how when his mom asked him how was school he just ignored her... giving a lil credencce to Louis' idea...

Why do you think that Marlow's crew is so interested in having him in the gang?

Ohh, I'm glad Stringer got his head blown off!!! I was starting to hate that dude... At the same time I kinda feel sorry for him cuz he was try'n to get in the high end of the game...

Coz, did you see the part when the two of them were in the gym and Cutty put his arm on the kid's shoulder and he pulled away? That led me to believe molestation.

Coz, did you see the part when the two of them were in the gym and Cutty put his arm on the kid's shoulder and he pulled away? That led me to believe molestation.

Yeah, you might be right. I just chalked it up to the fact that his moms obviously ain't worth a damm and probably has had men running in and out of there all of his life, so he has little trust for older males. But yeah, the way he looks after his younger brother might be a sign that he was molested by one of the boyfriends.

Yeah, I always liked Bubs. He has grown to be one of my favorites on the show. That's what I like about "The Wire"; it always shows the human sides of everyone. It doesn't try to paint only a good side and only a bad side of a character, but a mix of both. Then we have to make up our minds whether we like them or not. We have to decide whether they are good or not. That task is tougher than you think when you see all sides of the characters.

Hero1
10-06-2006, 06:45 PM
When I think of Bubs I think back to when he visited his sister..and was trying to get clean..Andre Royo who is playin him is a genius..yeah hes my fav character..Bubs is based on a real life person.. he was ed burns(the detective) real life informant.. the guy who is playing the priest..he was like the real life stringer bell that ed burns caught on the wire..now hes out of jail and on his tv show! and that snoop? character ..she was a serious bad motherfucker! she's as real as it gets.. most of the other characters are based on 2 or 3 people..and the storylines are based on shit that actually happened..

For some reason I think this season of "The Wire" is their best season yet. I like the fact that they're showing the kids' lives. I feel sorry for all of these kids, especially the main four the story is focusing on. Weebay's kid is the one most doomed, so I feel sorry for him the most. I think the smelly kid is going to be the one that ends up the most successful. These kids are pretty talented actors--I have no trouble believing any of their characters. ‘Bubbles’ becomes reservoir of humanity on HBO’s ‘The Wire’
Wednesday, December 6, 2006
By JAKE COYLE AP Entertainment Writer
AP RIC FRANCIS

BUBBLES Actor Andre Royo, who stars as Bubbles in HBO’s crime series “The Wire.”

NEW YORK Walking back to his trailer while shooting the first season of “The Wire,” Andre Royo was still in character as the homeless junkie and informant Bubbles — face scarred, hair a craggy black mess — when a real junkie approached with what Royo calls his “Street Oscar.”

“He said, ’Yo, you need this, man. You look like you need a hit,”’ recalls Royo. “I laughed a little bit and I got emotional. I was like, ‘Wow, he thinks I’m a junkie for real.’ I felt validated.”

Royo had to discard his “Oscar” before flying home (airlines might not recognize a bag of heroin as an acting trophy), but the gesture was reward enough for Royo. It’s also about as close as any actor on the HBO series has come to awards recognition, even though the Baltimore drama has been hailed with hyperbole by critics.

FINALE SUNDAY

On Sunday, Bubbles serves as an unusual reservoir of humanity as “The Wire” airs the fourth season’s finale (10 p.m. EST). Bubbles has long been one of the show’s most moral characters, captivating in his struggle to fight addiction and hopelessness on a show that revolves around futility.

This season has focused on a handful of young teenagers in West Baltimore’s broken school system. The final episodes find various characters fighting for the futures of the kids — and none is more affecting than Bubs’ unlikely mentoring of a homeless boy, which plays out tragically.

Bubbles’ emotional scenes represent a climax for both the character and Royo, who has taken a role originally meant for just seven episodes and made it one of the show’s most popular.

Like so much of “The Wire,” the character of Bubbles was taken directly from the street. Ed Burns, who helped create the show with David Simon (a former Baltimore journalist) and writes many of the episodes, was with Baltimore police for years (later becoming a school teacher). For 15 years, Bubbles was one of his best informants.

CULTIVATING HONOR

“In his prime, whatever happened in West Baltimore, he knew about,” Burns says of the real Bubbles, who he remembers fondly as an honest, unique person. “There’s a lot of honor in the game, you just have to find it and sort of cultivate it.”

When Bubbles died of AIDS in the late ‘80s, Simon wrote an obituary for him, but without Bubbles’ name because his family wanted it kept anonymous.

Having moved with his wife and daughter to Los Angeles, where they have opened a restaurant, Royo is understandably ready for some new challenges.

“I’ve been snitching for a long time now. The first job I had on ‘Law & Order’ I was snitching,” he says, also citing his roles in “Third Watch” and “Shaft.” “For some reason, they look at me and think, ‘That (guy) will tell. ... But I am Bubbles. There’s a part of me that’s invested, and I want to make sure his story is fully told.”

In March, “The Wire” begins production for a fifth and final season.

Now see that pissed me off too. How are you going to kill off Bodie? This is why I hate watching dramas. When you kill off my favorites, I get pissed.

I know someone better save my boy Randy. The cop that escorted him there should step up and be his foster dad. He owes him that much.

Michael is getting worse now. Next season something is going to happen to his little brother he so lovingly protects. I think Weebay's son is going to totally clean up his act. Kudos for Weebay for giving his son a better life (and shutting up that trifling wife of his--loved that!).

Continue the great story for the next season. And nobody better cap Omar!

Love this show.
