My children, age 5:

A viscious debate concerning Said's "Orientalism" left everyone a bit miffed:

In the meantime, Tibbald has decided he wants to go to school:

Wow - A.Dulteror, I love your kids names! How did you pick them?

Twisted.Mellow
05-03-2007, 12:39 AM
Byron is a reasonably common name, means cow shed! :D His full name is Byron Andrew Livingstone, which we thought sounded strong and regal...

Raeh and Cylem are from a previous relationship, and they live far away from me, so I only see them about twice a year... but back to the names...

Raeh was chosen by playing with "strong" words. "Heart" was one, and if you reverse it and drop the "t", there ya go! Commonly gets called Rori or Ray.

Cylem is a variation on Kaylen or Kaylem which my ex and I heard on TV one day and played around with the name... Some poeple say it "sy-lem" :(

I've never heard of any other kids called Raeh or Cylem before...

He's got a curly 'fro this month.

About the nationalities: Puerto Rican / Jamaican from their dad (The Cruz brothers).... mixed in with a whole buncha' other stuff.

Twisted.Mellow
05-03-2007, 10:13 PM
Friend's son is Indian... always found it interesting that different nationalities can produce similar looking kids... I've seen it quite a bit in Melbourne, Australia. There is a very diverse collection of cultures there, and mixed relationships produce some VERY cute kids.

BTW - Are we gonna see some pics from Doc G in this thread? I'm sure with the love he spreads, he'd have kids in every state! :D

Raeh, turns 9 in June (pronounced "Ra-ree")

Although I like it, I just cannot seem to figure out where that second R comes from.

ElizabethX
05-04-2007, 11:56 PM
I was wondering that myself. I was thinking maybe it's a regional dialect thing? Like sometimes British people and Australians put Rs in places after vowels where there aren't any....

kinda like how I said "idear" when I was little, instead of "idea"?

Well anyway, that was my only guess.

They'll thank you for it when they're older. I hated my name as a kid, wished it was more normal. By high school, I realized I was like Cher, or Oprah -- if anyone was talking about "Mariah" it was obviously about me.

Until that slut Mariah Carey came on the scene. Bitch.

I have to work very hard at being a slut... it takes alot of effort - especially being a male slut. Because men have a natural urge to procreate, you have to put in that much extra effort to stand out as a male slut.

Mariah Carey... pffft.

She ain't got shit on me.

Ahh, the joy of being a female slut. It's so easy and luscious - it's downright dangerous, delectable, degroovy.

Shall I go on?

I object! I kinda like being called Mistress around here...it's like my secret hip-hop name :p

Or M is good...most of my friends call me M

I guess it's just cause I never really had a nickname growing up, so it's kind of fun to have a nickname here, something different.

The Internet is truly a strange place, Ian. :)
I have kept that thing on my HD for a couple of years, 'cuz I figured that the web site would crap out (and it did). I don't remember where I found out about it, but I told a lot of people about it; I may have gotten somebody to take a chance on buying one of their records. Coincidentally, the guys that made that (Get It Right Records (http://www.getitright-records.com)) are from one of my hometowns.
They have a site dedicated to their animations (The Bumba Show (http://www.thebumbashow.com/)). I don't think most of the animations are funny, and I don't like most of their music, either, but I gotta give it up to a rap outfit that uses Flash animations to promote themselves.

Always good to see an artist truly venture into the world of IT.
