Look at the attached picture first and then watch the video. These 2 guys reared this lion from a baby in England but the authorities would not allow them to keep her once she reached maturity (which, I don't entirely disagree with -- I mean a London flat is not the right place for a cat of that magnitude to be happy and healthy). So decided to take her back to Africa and placed it in a wildlife sanctuary. A year later they went to see her and were told she would not likely remember them.

(I have to note that I particualrly love how the first thing she does is to recreate a "family scent" -- the mixed scent created from rubbing cheeks together. My cats do that do me everytime I come home. It's funny no matter how big or small, certain behavioral aspects remain the same.)

That's funny, I just re-watched "To Walk With Lions" about George Adamson this morning.

That would make me sneeze. I'm allergic to cats.

Here's another one to watch of a male lion and the woman who found him as a cub and rescued him in Columbia: http://www.telestereo.com/Archivos/video.html

Yeah, that shit made me tear-up. I gotta' show Mickey. He's the most amazing cat-tamer. We currently have two feral cats. He had to lock them in the house and calm them for several weeks when we first got them.

They've since escaped but they live in the back yard and the roof. They sometimes come into the kids' playroom when we leave that door open but they won't come into the rest of the house. The one with one eye missing comes for affection but the other one just comes for the food.

The person who brought them to us gave us $1000 to keep them (Humane Society would have killed them) and said that if they escaped, they would never return.

Dang, now that's pretty amazing. I didn't know lions could be that friendly to any human.

"Gita" sounds like a real fruitcake.
Dumbass got attacked by a lion while trying to be so cool.
I think lions are smarter than I had previously realized.
I want to attack her, too.

Yeah, that's not really "related" -- it's not about the bond between a human and an animal. It's about a human exploiting an animal to create a "cool" magazine cover, ignoring the lion while enagaging in behavioral displays without in any way thinking about how the animal might interpret that body language, and then being surprised that the lion who she was exploiting and ignoring pounces on her. How is that same thing as the long-term bonding and affection created between a human and an animal which includes the mixing of scents and familial recognition?

It relates, 'cuz that lion was in love. I'm betting that the lion could smell her hormones, and her movements somehow reminded him of feline mating postures, and he put two and two together and calculated that she was prime to be mounted.
Notice that the lion's pounce was not a deathstrike; he used neither teeth nor claws on her. He was just trying to give it to her! He's just a cat, so he was too dumb to know that she was too little for his big ol' 400 pound ass, and she'd get broken.

I don't know if that lion was in love. Lions don't just mount other lions, they do courtship rituals which last for several days. I think that lion was looking for a snack. He prolly thought she was acting like a gazelle or bird.

He was probably just annoyed by her stupid ass. Plus, he was on a leash being pulled back. He knew that a full-on attack would be (somewhat, if only slightly) hindered by leash-boy. He just wanted her to stop her crap and give her a little lesson for being so dumb.
Cats are not dumb. That's for sure.
DJ, are you turning into a robot?
