I was shopping at Publix today, and a little kid with sandy blond hair was swinging a red light saber all over the place. As I was passing by, he hit me square in the gut with a wild backswing. I'm glad it wasn't real, or I would have been cut in half, but as it was just a replica, it didn't hurt at all. His mother was mortified at what he had done, and he apologized profusely. It was no big deal to me, and I kept assuring them that no harm was done. I really hope that the kid didn't get in trouble; there was something about that kid that I really liked. As I walked away, I smiled and said "May The Force be with you, kid," and he returned my grin.
Now that I think of it, I realize what I liked about the kid; he's a Star Wars nerd just like I was. He had a better light saber than me, though; mine was made of a cardboard shipping tube with blue electrical tape wrapped around it. I hope he's gotten to see the "real" Star Wars, and not the crappy stuff from the past few years.

Nice one, Jak. Probably made his day. It's good the mother was apologizing too. Some parents just don't give a fuk.

Maybe the parent thought you were going to take the toy and start beating the kid with it? It should have stayed in the car.

I kinda' think it should have stayed in the car, UNLESS the kid was properly disciplined to carry such a fine, toyish weapon into a public place.
He wasn't; however, he DID have proper manners and his mother was also on top of his behavior.
It was a nice incident, though.
Sometimes, things just happen for a reason, bi+ch.

I'm glad everyone managed to be polite, and I'll bet you made that kid's day.

I have a childhood memory of falling asleep in the theater during Star Wars. I was so miserable.
