PM Dawn New Single to be released this week

Hey, I forgot to mention this. PM Dawn had a show at Bourbon Street in New Port Richie, FL, Friday night (6/20/08). DJ and I drove up there from Tampa. They played a new single and announced that it would be released this week. Be said for everyone to go to pmdawnonline.com and download it (if you must)!

Sounded really cool! I am looking forward to new studio sounds!

I am pretty sure it is original. I did not recognize the background, but Be and Doc kept saying something about BSB - yep Back Street Boys! I never got into BSB much, but it could be a recognizable background for many of you...

DJ has some video I took with his uncle's mini dv camera - maybe it is on there. WheelJak - did any of the video turn out OK - or was it all too dark and hazy?

The background starts out with (BSB) voices singing Oooooooooh, la-da-taah, la-da-taah. There is a funky sounding bass line bwewp bwewp bwewp throughout. It is a slower, smooth sounding song - about 92bmp (or 184 bpm if you look at it from the perspective of the guitar in the background - or the hi-hat on the drums).

Be starts out singing to a girl. Basically, he is telling a girl that she makes him happy, but it sounds like she left, so he is coaxing her to stay. They never mentioned the title, but it might be named something like "If You Stay". Be does the slower, smooth verses, then Doc G steps in at one point with a quick, island-style rap. Doc G's lyrics mention that he did the girl wrong, but he's changed.

It should be out soon - they did the song against the studio-sounding back-track. They probably have a few excellent versions that they are sitting on, tweaking and deciding which one to release...

It sounded really cool - I'd definitely buy the single. I wonder if it would generate some remixes in the community...

The video is actually pretty decent, but the audio is badly distorted. That little mic in that cheap camera was not designed to handle high-dB situations.

This is all kinda funny, because the first time I (almost) saw PM Dawn live was way back in '95 (or was it '96). I didn't know they were gonna be there, and I just happened to see them do the last half of their last song, and leave. Then, a then-unknown group of teenage boys that called themselves "The Backstreet Boys" came onstage. You can say what you will about those boy bands, but they work really hard to put on the best show they can.

I agree. Should shoot for a font size so big, that only one letter at a time is visible on the screen. That's impact.

If it is a purchase through download type of thing, I hope it is much better quality than my wife got from a couple of places (buy.com or download.com or some other retailer). The few tracks she downloaded for the girls (at the highest setting they offered) were crap:mad:. It looked like they were jacked up/ clipped, then volume cut in half. I can fix volume and balance, but clipping ends up as distortion - I don't know how to fix that. Ended up buying a couple of CDs to replace, so we wasted $6 in the first place. I am always willing to pay for the CD if it means a difference in quality:).
