I still don't understand why newports and kools are considered "black" cigarettes. I'm white and those are the only two brands i've ever smoked.

My experiences all come from growing up in New York...especially High School (back when I was a smoker). My school was pretty well mixed, and almost without exception all the black kids smoked Newports or Kools, all the Puerto Ricans smoked Salems, and all the white kids smoked Marlboros or Parliaments. It was like you knew what to expect when you had to bum a stogie, depending on who you were bumming from.
