Jam-On The Groove
Excuse the spam fam, but... :haha:
Yo y'all, next week Saturday, April 25th, at 5PM EST, 10PM GMT, my son DJ Dogtrane and I return to Global Funk Radio with our new show, Jam-On The Groove!
We've changed the name because this show will be drastically improved in production value over the old, as it will be fully incorporated with my studio equipment. Dogtrane will be doing his usual live megamixes and mash-ups. If you guys haven't heard him before then ask somebody, the kid is dope! I will be doing my share of mixing and record playing, spinning themes and vibes, and playing LOTS of what is rockin', new, or coming, but I also from time to time will be previewing what is presently being worked on in my studio, and even throwing together a few live mixes and jam sessions. I GUARANTEE you that it will be unlike any other show that you have ever heard before!
For those of y'all who are not familiar with our old show, this will NOT be a strictly Electro or Hip-Hop oriented program. Dogtrane may play anything (and mash it up with anything), and so as not to stifle him I will not try to change that outside of the occasional reminder about GFR's core audience. I on the otherhand, will play a LOT of Electro and Breakbeat, but I am prone to go into Funk, Jazz or even Disco or House excursions, and make no promises about anything. Our main goal though, is to entertain you, and for that purpose we will be pulling out no stops!
So, CHECK US OUT!!! Oh, and come and join us in the chatroom!

This was our best show yet!
Dogtrane rocked a completely stupendous set, full of mash-ups, classic break beats, Funk, Disco, the boy went off! Loaded with dope scratches and blends, The Dog tore up his 1200s using vinyl, Serato AND Traktor DJ! Unbelievable set!
I then followed up with yet another rockin' hour of Electro, dropping a bit of Aux 88, Sace 2, Kraftwerk, the hella funky Zak B cut and hella funky DJ Diplomat megamix from the hella funky Street Sounds Nu Electro compilation, and a 4 song Newcleus block featuring 3 unreleased gems and one seldom played classic! Definitely one for your ipod!!!

The Memorial Day Weekend Brooklyn Style BBQ Bash!
Well, almost. It was stormin' outside so we didn't have any BBQ, but we had beer, booze and booty bouncin' beats!
Dogtrane went on a mash-up rampage, accented with plenty of dope scratches and blends! The chatroom was buzzin' as he worked his unique style of magic on tracks as dissonant as Captain Sky to Flava Flav to Michael Jackson to Monty Python! I even dropped a few lines of age old '70s Brooklyn flavor rhymes as he cut up Super Sporm! Another blazin' set!
I followed with a solid bumpin' hour of hard hittin' Electro and smooth single malt scotch. I dropped hard beats like Dr. Schmidt's "Engines Of God" and Dark Vektor's "Wires" without droppin a drop of The Glenlivet, adding in two monster new pre-release tracks from the Open Concept label, "Magnolia" by Carl Finlow and the jazzy, eccentric "Neon Parallels" by Biepang (which I erroneously attributed to Inspector, scotch in full effect). I finished up with before and after versions of "Automan", thus adding that final Jam-On touch.
Your ipods hunger for this one!

I don't have an ipod, but I've been downloading and listening to each episode! 5pm est isn't a good time for me.
-
Glad you get to hear it anyway. :)
-
Not only hearing it but loving it! Dogtrain is BAD on the wheels of steel, and the old school electro sets that you drop are definately the move.
"Not bad meaning bad but bad meaning GOOD! There it is!!"

thanks for the podcast links. so awesome!

My pleasure, thanks for listening! :)

Dogtrane took a leave of absence and set off on a crate-digging expedition to Brooklyn this weekend and left me to my own devices. So, I decided to do a full 2 hour Electro show!
To fill in the first hour I dropped an extraordinary Electro mix from 2004 by Volum! It is a must hear! I then followed with some choice cuts, emphasizing on originality and ending with 3 brand new, exemplary, melodic Electro masterpieces, "Fragile" by Microthol on Trust, "Neon Parallels" by Biepang on Open Concept, and "Lia" by Electronic Confessions on Machinen Musik.
Oh, and I played the brand new Street Sounds Electro Chart #1, "Programmed 4 L.O.V.E." by Newcleus. Woohooo!
Don't worry, DJ Dogtrane will be back next week with his maniacal mash-up mayhem! Enjoy!

The Dog Returns!
Dogtrane returned and delivered one of his most eclectic sets to date! He started out with Disco, mashin' up tunes so rare and obscure that they even had me baffled! He even dug out a couple of old gems from Kid Creole And The Coconuts! He then went into some pounding, ground thumpin' House and mashed it up with some Soca. Classic set!
I followed with an Electro set that emphasized on the beat. Of course, I started out with that most important and influential of Electro beats, "Numbers" by Kraftwerk. I then followed that with a line-up that included such hard hitters as Anthony Rother, Aux 88 and Dark Vektor and new gems from Karl Finlow, Electronic Confessions and The Middle Men (Bass Junkie and Jim Kneen). Finally, being that Newcleus - "Programmed 4 L.O.V.E." is enjoying it's 2nd week as #1 on the Street Sounds Electro Chart, I closed out the show with the instrumental.
Enjoy!
